It’s almost the season to be jolly. And give and receive presents like there’s no tomorrow.
Of course, everybody’s business around here is to be busy or look busy and to inspire workaholic feelings to everyone around (and I’m not just talking about high payed persons – if you talk to anybody they will tell you how much hard work their job is and how they love it. bs). So naturally, they don’t have enough time to carefully consider what would make a good present that would fit their budget. Or they just don’t simply give a crap.
Here is where gift cards come into play. It’s totally acceptable (even recommended) to buy someone a gift card as a present. Maybe to a store that sells a brand that they like, if you are thoughtful. You know gift cards, right? The same as giving money, but it can only be spent in one place and have an expiration date. But hey, it’s made out of plastic and it’s shiny… and it has some neat picture on it. Who wouldn’t love that as a present, right?
I was amazed when I first saw a whole rack of gift cards in a supermarket. I thought: who would be so lame as to buy these? After that I figured that it’s just the way it works around here. You’re saving time (riiight), showing that you care (enough to pick a nice colored card) and what more can be more profound sign of a shallow relationship than a shallow gift? Go gift cards.
