I ranted before about New Year’s Resolutions and how lame it seems to me to set some goal at this point in time each year just because everybody else is doing it. Also it’s well known that most of those goal will go down the drain very fast so…
Today’s annoyance is related to one of the most common New Year’s goal people set: lose weight. It’s an annoyance because it is affecting me. Let me explain: since I started my weight loss journey I’ve been going to the gym 5 times a week. And since I also have to work during normal business hours, I usually hit the gym in the evening when most people from the working class do it. Now, with the New Year a new phenomenon is happening: the gym is literally packed every time I go. Would you like circling the parking lot 2-3 time in order to get a parking spot? How about waiting 5-10 minutes sometimes for an exercising machine? You want to find a free locker? Good luck with that.
Now, I am not bothered by the fact that these people are trying to lose the weight and working toward an artificially created goal. I am bother by the fact that is crowded. And by the fact that most of these people will go back to their old routine in at most 2-3 weeks. And during this time span I have to put up with an out of control crowded gym. But I’ll live. It’s just another annoying way in which New Year’s resolution are affecting me.
